I have over 25 years of experience training and working operational police dogs, having also run the police puppy programme.
I deliver Dog Training Courses & 1-2-1 Private Training Sessions throughout the year in the Chew Valley Area of Bristol.
121 Dog Training - £45 per hour session
If group Dog Training classes are not for you, if you have specific issues you want to work on or if you have a new puppy, I offer 1-2-1 Training for owners and their dogs.
I can either come to you or meet you at a secure paddock I use in the Chew Valley Area. We can discuss your needs, demonstrate the training that will be undertaken with your dog and then train you to have the necessary skills to get the maximum enjoyment from your dog.
I will email over notes after the session of exercises that we cover.
Why not book a block of four to get the last session half price?
I also provide Pre Puppy 1-2-1 sessions at your home address to prepare you for the arrival of your puppy and explain topics such as Crate & Toilet Training/Puppy Biting etc so that you are fully organised for the new addition to the family.
Puppy Foundation Course - £75 per owner & puppy
The Puppy Foundation Course is for dogs under 6 months that are fully vaccinated with comprehensive notes supplied throughout.
The Courses are based at Ubley Village Hall & run over 4 consecutive weeks comprising four 1-hour sessions. They follow the structure of the Kennel Club Good Citizens Dog Scheme & my experience from running the police puppy programme.
Each Course contains a maximum of 6 Dogs.

-Teething and chewing

Adolescent Course - £60 per owner & dog
For dogs aged between 6 and 18 months that have ideally completed the Puppy Foundation Course or some 121 Sessions. We will tackle any unwanted behaviours and develop the skills needed to get through the sometimes difficult teenage years.
Courses are based at a secure paddock in the Chew Valley area of Bristol & run over 3 consecutive weeks comprising of three 1-hour sessions.
Maximum of 6 Dogs per course.
In addition to developing the skills learnt on the Foundation Course, we will be working
on the following:
-Calming/Self-control games
-Increased duration of stationary positions
-Loose lead walking around distractions and progressing to off-lead
-Recall from distractions
-Environmental enrichment
-Boundary games
-Marker training learning new skills
Scent Detection Courses - £75 per owner & dog
I have a police background in handling and training specialist search dogs. I am also a Scent Work UK level 1 trainer.
This course gives owners and their dogs an introduction to scent detection based around training methods I used as an operational police specialist dog handler and trainer.
You will develop the skills to search, find and indicate the presence of a specific scent in any location.
Dogs must possess a good ball or food drive and be social around other dogs. This is a great way of mentally stimulating your dog giving you exercises that you can go away and practice at home. There are opportunities to progress from foundation through to bronze, silver and gold levels.
These courses are great for reactive dogs to help them focus and stay calm while around distractions.
The course runs over 3 consecutive weeks comprising of three 1 hour 20-minute sessions.
Maximum of 4 Dogs per Course based at Ubley Village Hall
1-2-1 Private Scent Detection Sessions - £50 per hour session

Taster Scent Detection Sessions - £25 per hour session
A Taster Session to give you an introduction to Scent Detection & see how it all works. If you and your dog enjoy the session then you can sign up to the courses later in the year.
A Maximum of 4 Dogs per session based at Ubley Village Hall.

Club - £25 per session
Scent Club is for those teams that have completed the Gold Level Course & are looking to continue with Scent Training.
The Club meets once a month on a Monday Evening using live venues very much replicating searches carried out by dogs in professional working roles.
(Anti) Social Workshop - £20 – 1 hour session
This one-hour session is for dogs that have already completed courses or a 121 Session with me.
If you struggle getting your dog to listen to you, have trouble calling your dog away from other dogs or your dog is reactive to other dogs, this workshop could be for you.
The workshop is held in a secure field, teaching you the skills to start enjoying walking together.
